The Old St. Mary's Church was looking for a fresh look to their Altar Frontals. During the review process many elements were considered as to their historical relevance, image and representation. Several items then went into production to complete the project. The following items were created in collaboration with Denise Robello. Denise also a graduate from the prestigious Royal School of Needlework.
The following are samples of the variety of projects created.
Jesica also created a new frontal for the main altar with matching tabernacle covers for use through the Easter season using golden Crucifixion Brocade with a white dove appliqué, symbol of the Holy Spirit, to honor the Spiritan Fathers who have served Old St Mary’s since 1893.
This Altar Frontal was purchased from a Church Resale Shop and severely damaged. Jessica took it apart piece by piece and restored all the gold work banding, including adding a couple of pieces to complete the desired length. She brightened up Mary by adding blue velvet behind her and outlined her with gold. Also, adding blue velvet behind the gold bandings with gold outline as well. Once everything was restored, she reattached all original pieces to the Brocade, adding Gold Bullion fringe to the bottom and even customizing it to fit Old St. Mary’s Altar Frontal.
